Everything you need to start and run a wiki on Wiki43.
Getting started
- Sign in with your email address. We send you a link; there is no password.
- Choose Create a wiki, pick a name and an address like
gardening.wiki43.com. - Edit the main page we create for you, then link to new pages to grow the wiki.
- Share the address. In the wiki's settings you can choose who may edit and add members.
Formatting
Pages are written in Markdown with a few wiki extras. The editor has a toolbar and a live preview, so you rarely need to remember any of this.

Links and red links
[[Page name]] links to another page in the same wiki. If that page doesn't exist yet the link shows in red; follow it to create the page. Wanted pages in the sidebar lists every red link, so it doubles as a to-do list. Page names are not case-sensitive and spaces and underscores are the same.
Images
Use Upload a file in a wiki's sidebar. PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP and AVIF images up to 10 MB are accepted. Show an image on a page with [[File:Name.png]]. Add options separated by |: thumb for a framed thumbnail with a caption, left, right or center to position it, 220px for its width, and any other text as the caption.
Roles and permissions
- Owner: everything, including deleting the wiki and transferring it.
- Admin: settings, members and roles, plus everything moderators can do.
- Moderator: delete and restore pages, protect pages, ban users and remove comments.
- Editor: a member. Matters when editing is limited to members.
Every change is kept in the page history and can be undone with Restore this version. Protect busy pages so only members or admins can edit them.
Watching and notifications
Pages you create or edit are watched automatically. When someone else edits a watched page or comments on it you get a notification. Use the Watch tab on any page to follow it, or unwatch it.
